KAS Classes are quite simply the best option for training your child in the magic of theatre. No other group has the reputation, track record and success stories. Many of our students have gone on to post secondary studies and careers in the arts. You will notice many of our young performers end up in our mainstage productions.
Named Kelowna's Best Teacher in 2013, Randy is the Artistic Managing Director of Kelowna Actors Studio, teaching and mentoring performers of all ages (4 years of age to adult). Many of his students have attended or are attending Sheridan College in Toronto, The Randolph Academy, The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in L.A. & NYC and Carnegie Mellon University among others.
With over 170 directorial/production credits in Toronto, Ottawa and Kelowna, he was also has Director of programming and marketing for the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, Toronto and held several positions on cultural boards. His passions include musical theatre, production, choreography, lighting/set design and performing.
Randy was the recipient of the first ever Okanagan Angel Award for his contribution to the local arts scene and received the Civic Award for Honour in the Arts - City of Kelowna in 2009. His home theatre group in Toronto, Ontario has an award named in his honour.
Over the past 12 years, Actors Studio has successfully produced over 80 major productions, grown to accommodate over 250 students a semester and has won civic and regional awards for their contribution to the arts.
Randy has an incredible rapport working with both children and adults and is known for getting people to perform to their highest level. He is the central force behind the implementation of our creative and challenging drama and music programs for all ages including the Broadway Jr. Series with such shows as, Footloose, Rent School Version, Sweeney Todd School Version, Peter Pan Jr., Fame Jr. Winnie the Pooh-Kids to name a few. His specialties include acting, musical theatre, improv, voice, mask work, script writing, scene study, choreography and directing. In Kelowna he has directed such productions Shrek-The Musical, Company, Music Man, A Streetcar Named Desire, the 39 Steps and many more. He has also performed on our stage with favourite credits including Hanratty in Catch Me If Yu Can - The Musical, Jean Valjean in Les Miserables and Gomez in The Addams Family - The Musical.
Margaret has a BFA in Acting from the University of Alberta. She has worked as an actor and director in Edmonton, Vancouver and Toronto, co-founding a theatre company in Toronto. She has also worked in Arts Administration for the Tarragon Theatre, the Toronto Fringe Theatre Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival and the Abu Dhabi International Film Festival.
Here at the Actors Studio she is in Development - helping to build the Kelowna Actors Studio Academy Foundation.
On stage for KAS she has directed My Son Pinnochio, Annie, Shirley Valentine, co-directed South Pacific and performed as Mickie in The Odd Couple: Female Version. She has also outfitted several KAS shows with their props.
Norene is a singer, teacher, and choral conductor with a Bachelor of Music (Performance) from the University of Manitoba and a Master of Music (Performance) from the University of Arizona. She is originally from Winnipeg and has taught voice/choral music and music theory at various institutions including Penticton Academy of Music, Algoma University College and Conservatory, the Universities of Manitoba and Arizona, Mennonite Brethren and Steinbach Bible Colleges. She has also worked as a festival adjudicator, a workshop clinician, and as a performer and vocal/stage director with various theatre companies in Manitoba, Ontario, and BC. Currently, she has a private voice studio in Kelowna.
While Norene’s main outlet for creative expression has always been in music, over the years she has developed skills in other areas that ultimately brought her to KAS, where she has had the opportunity to create, play, and teach since 2008. She has been involved in over 25 productions both on stage and off. This involvement includes three seasons as head of the set décor department, the creation of specialty props and costumes for main stage and student productions, as well as music directing for Sweet Charity and the student production of Les Misérables. This summer and fall she will continue work as music director for the student productions of Fiddler on the Roof and Rent.
As a performer at KAS, Norene has been on stage in 9 productions. Favourite roles include Bloody Mary in South Pacific and Molina’s Mother in Kiss of the Spider Woman
Jennifer has been dancing most of her life starting as a student at the Canadian School of Ballet in Kelowna at the age of 6. She spent many summers at various dance training programs including, The Banff Center of Performing Arts and The Royal Winnipeg Ballet Apprentice Program, before continuing her training at Arts Umbrella in their post-secondary Grad Program and Company on Granville Island. In her two years there she was fortunate to work alongside many great choreographers including: Roberto Campanella (ProArteDanza), Shawn Hounsell (Les Grands Ballet Canadiens de Montreal), Joe Laughlin (Joe Ink), and Wen Wei Wang (Wen Wei Dance) to name a few. She was also fortunate enough to travel to Japan to collaborate and perform with a company of Japanese dancers for two weeks and performing at Expo ’05 in Aichi. Jennifer has taught various types of dance at Aberdeen Hall Prep School, Arts Umbrella Children’s classes, Canadian School of Ballet, and is excited to continue teaching in the following year through KAS.Jennifer has been choreographing shows for KAS since 2009. In that time she has choreographed and assisted with dance in 10 productions including “Sweet Charity”, “White Christmas” and “Annie”. As well as performing in many productions including “Sweet Charity”, “The Producers”, and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”.
Tracey has had a varied professional career in the entertainment industry spanning 25 years. Since graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting from the School of Dramatic Art at the University of Windsor, she has consistently worked in theatre, film, TV, in over 100 commercials, corporate live shows, improvisation and workshops. Recently, she had a support role in the locally shot, Sepia films’ production of ‘A Wife’s Nightmare’ and in ‘August: Osage County’ at Kelowna Actor’s Studio. As an instructor she has taught in Vancouver, Toronto, Mississauga, as well as audition coached and on set as a dialogue coach. She has also been involved in many playwriting workshops, with both professional and emerging writers, and has assisted directors training student directors, as an actor. Throughout her career she has also continued to study her craft, believing that there is always more work to be done and more levels to discover and master.
Angela has been a drama teacher for 13 years, having taught in Calgary and Britain. A graduate of the University of Lethbridge, Angela believes in life long learning and that learning through drama is not only the best way to learn but the most fun way to learn! Angela is a working actor and director in the community and tours elementary schools teaching for The Young Actor's Project. Angela is very excited for the opportunity to work with Kelowna Actor's Studio and to create memorable and exciting theatre experiences!
Gillian has been training and performing with KAS from the age of 13. She began as a student in the KAS Performance Troupe classes and eventually moved up into the main stage productions. Since 2008, Gillian has performed in over 20 shows with KAS. Some favourite roles include Sister Mary Amnesia (Nunsense), Cinderella (Into the Woods and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella), and most recently Eliza Doolittle (My Fair Lady).
In addition to performing with the studio, Gillian has also had the pleasure of assistant teaching and choreographing performance classes alongside Randy Leslie.
In 2012 Gillian was accepted to the prestigious Music Theatre Performance Program at Sheridan College in Ontario where she has had the opportunity to hone her skills in voice, acting, and dance with some of Toronto’s top theatre professionals. This fall she will begin her fourth and final year at Sheridan and will receive her Bachelor of Applied Arts in Musical Theatre.

Subscriber Ticket Exchanges
If you have a season ticket but can't come on your regular night, you may exchange your ticket for another performance of the same production, provided that seats are available. The request must occur at least 48 hours before the performance date shown on the ticket. This may only be done once per production.
Ticket & Class Registration Policies
There are no refunds or exchanges for unused tickets. Please safeguard your tickets. Tickets are only good for the specific performance designated and are not for resale.
There are no cash refunds for class registrations. Cancellations prior to the beginning of class may qualify for a gift certificate credit. Cancellations for reasons beyond the student or families control after a class begins are subject to pro-rated class fees and will only qualify for a credit. Dropping of classes due to not getting the part you or your child wanted in the class will not result in a credit.

Ticket exchanges for another performance within the same production are subject to a $3 service charge per ticket and must be completed 48hrs prior to the original date.
A $3 service charge is applicable for all mail deliveries.
Wheelchair access is limited and based upon availability. Please mention at time of booking and book in advance.
All children are required to have tickets and separate seats. Babes in arms are not permitted.

The show cannot go on without the work of stagehands and crew "behind the curtain". Their tasks range from scenery moving and looking after props during a performance, assisting performers, and painting sets or props prior to the show opening. If you enjoy working behind the scenes and want to find out more about working in a stage production, then this is the crew for you. Front of House
Members of this crew are people who like to work with the public. They can be found greeting theatre-goers at the entrance and as ushers in the front of the house, handing out programmes, clearing tables and helping people locate the correct seat. How much time does this involve?
The time you commit is up to you, according to your availability and interest. Some volunteers work a few hours per year, while others participate in several full performances a year.
How will I know what to do?
Orientation and training is arranged in the area that appeals to you before working your first show. Theatre staff and experienced volunteers will be on hand to help you become confident in your role.
Who chooses which shows I work?
You decide which shows to volunteer for by signing up at the theatre Box Office. You may also be called when extra help is needed, but the choice is always yours.

Our History & Founders
Kelowna Actors Studio Inc. (KAS) was formed in May of 2003 to produce vibrant, exciting presentations of the worlds best loved Broadway productions, present fun, challenging and enriching learning experiences for students of all ages, become the premiere forerunner and prime example of a high quality theatre company and enrich the cultural landscape of the Okanagan valley.
The studio located at 1379 Ellis Street (across from the Kelowna Public Library) offers an approximately 11,000 square feet of space divided into four main areas; 230-seat theatre including 91 dinner seats with full table service, mirrored rehearsal/dance studio, set and props construction/storage; kitchen, licensed bar and a general office area.
KAS positions itself in the local cultural scene as a comprehensive home for the theatre arts, offering educational, volunteer and performance opportunities for children and adults in all aspects of a theatre production.
KAS’s mission statement, “Providing quality education, entertainment and enrichment for all ages through the performing arts” is showcased by their strong contribution to the Kelowna Cultural District.

Randy is the Artistic Managing Director of Kelowna Actors Studio and the driving force in KAS’s educational programmes. with many of his students going to Sheridan College in Toronto, The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in L.A. and the Juilliard School in New York City.
Randy has over 150 directorial credits in Toronto, Ottawa and Kelowna. He was the Director of Programming and Marketing for the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts in Toronto for 13 years.

Nate Flavel - Co Founder
Recipient of the Young Entrepreneur award with Kelowna Chamber of Commerce for his work with KAS, Nate is also the recipient of the 2012 Okanagan Arts Award for Theatre and the 2011 City of Kelowna Civic Award for the Honour in the Arts.
Besides his full time career with The Stone Sisters Group at RE/MAX and maintaining his role as Executive Producer at KAS and the Tourism Kelowna Board Representative for Arts and Culture, Nate has directed and choreographed numerous productions, taught the ever popular Glee performance troupe and performed in over 20 productions for KAS totalling about 375 performances over the past 12 years. He is known for his tenor voice, tap dance and comic characters. Notable performances include Donkey in Shrek the Musical, Don Lockwood in Singin in the Rain, Jesus in Godspell, and the title role in Joseph and Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Prior to KAS he was involved in the local groups MASK and Encore performing 4 summers at Grey Monk Estate Winery and numerous conventions, meeting and concerts.
