Kelowna, BC - Kelowna Actors Studio is proud to announce its upcoming production of "Sunset Boulevard the Musical," which will run from May 31 to June 18, 2023 at the theatre on Ellis street.
Based on the classic 1950 film directed by Billy Wilder, "Sunset Boulevard" tells the story of Norma Desmond, a fading silent film star who hires struggling screenwriter Joe Gillis to help revive her career. As their relationship deepens, Joe becomes entangled in Norma's delusions of grandeur.
With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton, "Sunset Boulevard the Musical" is a stunningly crafted production that captures the glamour and tragedy of old Hollywood.
"We are thrilled to bring this classic story to life on stage and to share it with audiences in Kelowna," says director Randy Leslie. "The music, the performances, and the overall production are sure to be a treat for anyone who loves great theatre."
This presentation stars local Jazz diva and arts advocate Anna Jacyszyn in the role of Norma Desmond.
“She is one of those women that when you dig deep, and start looking for who she is, I found a lot of myself in there” shares Anna Jacyszyn as Norma Desmond in an interview with Executive Producer Nate Flavel.
Jacyszyn is joined by a cast of talented Actors Studio favourites performing Webbers score with masterful ease. Josh Richardson as Joe Gillis, Mark Wells as Max Von Mayerling, Laura Benty as Betty Schaefer with Ben Moody, Breanna Mills, Brittany Campbell, Caden Hergott, Ethan Landygo, Giuliana Borsella, Carly Beckner, Carmen St. Amand, Connor Hogg, David Fung, Kevin Morrison, Landon Schueler, Lizzy Walsh, Mila Prasad, Payton Bischoff, Rhiannon Graham-Knapp, Skylar Naiman, and Tully Johnson.
Directed by Randy Leslie with Associate Director, Angela Quinn, Music Director Spencer Bach and Choreographer Gracelynn Sali. The production will also feature Costume/Wig/Light Design by Randy Leslie, Projections by Nate Flavel, Set by Jordan Donatelli, Nate Flavel and Marvin Turner, Sound Design by Jordan Leboe, Set Decor by Stacey Baker and Stage Manager Abigail Dehod.
