Volunteer Opportunities

Back of House

The show cannot go on without the work of stagehands and crew "behind the curtain". Their tasks range from scenery moving and looking after props during a performance, assisting performers, and painting sets or props prior to the show opening. If you enjoy working behind the scenes and want to find out more about working in a stage production, then this is the crew for you.

Front of House

Members of this crew are people who like to work with the public. They can be found greeting theatre-goers at the entrance and as ushers in the front of the house, handing out programmes, clearing tables and helping people locate the correct seat.

Volunteer FAQ

How much time does this involve?

The time you commit is up to you, according to your availability and interest. Some volunteers work a few hours per year, while others participate in several full performances a year.

How will I know what to do?

Orientation and training is arranged in the area that appeals to you before working your first show. Theatre staff and experienced volunteers will be on hand to help you become confident in your role.

Who chooses which shows I work?

You decide which shows to volunteer for by signing up at the theatre Box Office. You may also be called when extra help is needed, but the choice is always yours.
